I admit it. I am a sucker for corporate biographies. It’s my thing. My wife likes psycho thrillers, I like authorised histories of big companies and entrepreneurs. So when I saw this book at an airport bookstore it looked like the best of the bunch. Being a short flight though, I downloaded the first chapter free, somewhat ironically, to my iPad Kindle app.

The opening packs a punch and introduces the Amazon.com juggernaut success story. I was surprised when I eventually bought the rest of the book that it quickly dulled. Maybe I don’t care enough about Jeff Bezos the man to absorb his family tree. It got better after that and the history is really amazing though I didn’t appreciate the author skipping back and forth through time like a Tarantino film. A simple chronological exposition would have sufficed.

Nevertheless, a must read for any internet, startup curious entrepreneur types. Great company, great success story.
